Ending Homelessness

You have the power to transform the lives of Chicago’s homeless women and children. By supporting Interfaith Council for the Homeless’ (ICH) successful programs you provide families with both a permanent home and the tools they need to rebuild their lives. Join us in creating a community of achievement. By supporting our vision you can change the lives of generations to come.

ICH residents are determined women who, finding themselves homeless and broken, made the difficult decision to examine their lives and forge a new path. By surrounding these women with a framework of support and holding them accountable for their progress, ICH gives them the best chance for a new life.

One of the hidden tragedies of homelessness is that families shuttle from shelter to shelter with their children constantly changing schools. We break the cycle of homelessness by creating a stable family environment where both women and their children can thrive. With a supportive community, a school to call their own and a chance for lasting friendships, our children flourish. Seventy-five percent of ICH children are working at grade level and twelve percent are on the honor roll.

ICH fosters an atmosphere of achievement where goals are set, met and celebrated. We are a vibrant and cohesive organization where everyone works together to help the women overcome obstacles. We have a proven record of success. Eighty-four percent of ICH alumnae families are self-sufficient and paying full market rent.

Your donation helps Chicago’s homeless women and children reclaim their lives.  Join us in breaking the generational cycle of homelessness by transforming the lives of those in need.

Projects

Sanctuary Place
Sanctuary Place is located on the west side of Chicago and houses ICH’s main offices. It is a campus environment providing homes to 63 single women in studio apartments and 6 families in town homes. The residents create a supportive community that provides peer support in addition to the on-site case management team.

Shelter Graduates
Shelter Graduates offers case management and affordable housing to 29 families in scattered site apartments primarily in the west and south sides of Chicago. This project has recently expanded from 21 families.

Interfaith Homes
Interfaith Homes works with faith communities to sponsor families in need throughout Chicagoland. By leveraging resources, 20 faith communities are currently helping 6 families. In addition to rental support, faith communities also assist with utility payments, clothing, household goods and other needs.

Casa Kirk
Casa Kirk is ICH’s newest supportive housing community, housing 8 Shelter Graduates families with an on-site case manager in South Chicago. ICH is also providing emergency support to an additional ten families to prevent them from slipping into homelessness.
