SPONSOR A FAMILY
The Fund to End Homelessness/Interfaith Homes is asking congregations, businesses, social agencies, and individuals to sponsor a homeless family for up to one year. You can do this on your own or they may join with others and sponsor a family as a group.
What sponsors can do:
- rental assistance for up to one year
- donation of furniture, cleaning supplies, or linens
- prayer group for the family
- housewarming gift box (suggestions provided)
- gift certificates for groceries or from a "big box" store
What ICH will do:
We will locate the family, assess the family's needs, locate housing and create a case management/success plan for the family to follow. Interfaith Homes will also provide case management with a professional and licensed social worker.
We can also provide educational events and leaders to speak about homelessness. We can provide training and technical assistance for your congregation's homeless ministry. We can connect you with other congregations who are sponsoring a homeless family.
Our expertise.
We can help your congregation create your own homeless ministry - we have years of experience and skills in this type of ministry. Plus, one of our staff is a nationally recognized expert in community and homeless ministries; offering training and consultations across the United States. He has served as a community ministry trainer for his denomination and taught urban and justice ministries for ten years at a midwestern seminary. He is available, free of charge, to help you start or renew your homeless ministry. He has also pastored inner city congregations.
